Coin-operated parking lots in Japan are typically located outdoors and are accessible to anyone at any time. In most cases, the fee for the time used is paid using a fully-automated fare adjustment machine after use.

The mechanism varies depending on the location and the size of the parking lot, with the most common type being the lock type. When a car is parked, a sensor detects it, the lock plate rises, and the system starts a timer.

Since coin-operated parking is primarily intended for short-term use, most facilities impose a maximum parking limit of 48 hours per use. Please be aware that if you exceed this limit, your vehicle will be deemed abandoned and a warning sign will be posted!
